First stab at TEI publication

2013 December 8

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking through how best to transcribe ¬†Tarlton’s Jests and represent that process here. I believe there’s value to reflecting upon the materiality of the text, in considering the editorial components of the 1613 edition. I’m still not sure whether or not I will go so far as to create a modern spelling version but that needn’t be decided right now.

To do a better job of demonstrating my process, I’m going to start posting TEI mark-up of the three sections of the Jests using TEI Boilerplate, which provides a quick, simple web presentation of the text:

His Court-wittie Iests

  • (To come)

His sound Cittie Iests

His Country prettie Iests

  • To come
